Garnier’s Micellar water has been a particular favourite in the blogging world recently, so I thought it would be a great idea to try it out for myself.
I’ve always struggled with sensitive skin, so finding a makeup remover that works well and doesn’t affect my skin is sometimes difficult. Before trying this product, I had been using Johnson’s Be Gone Refreshing Wipes, which are great for removing full coverage makeup but can often leave your skin feeling dry and lacklustre.
So, what is Micellar Water and how is it different from other makeup removers?
Micellar Water is made up of micelles (cleansing oil molecules) suspended in soft water. Attracted to dirt and oil, they draw out impurities without drying out the skin.

While there are a number of different brands that use a similar formula, Garnier’s Micellar Water is great value. At only £3.29 in Superdrug, it’s an absolute bargain, and it does everything you need it to!
How do you use it?
Personally, I find that this product works best when you apply it with cotton wool face pads, as you can remove a lot of makeup in one go.
Just squeeze out a reasonable amount of product onto the pad, and proceed to wipe off your makeup, bit by bit. If you wear full coverage makeup, you’ll probably find that you have to use 3 or 4 pads, depending on how much product you use on each.
Likewise, if you wear a lot of eye makeup then it’s probably a good idea to use one pad per eye, holding it down against your eyelid to release some moisture, while rubbing back and forth (gently, of course!)
Although this product doesn’t require washing off after use, those of you who wear a lot of eye makeup may feel more comfortable giving your face a quick wash, just to remove every last bit.
What’s so good about it?
With the Micellar Water formula, this product is great for removing your makeup quickly and easily! Plus, it leaves your skin feeling great.
In fact, I would go as far to say that this actually improves the quality of your skin, leaving it feeling smooth and clearer. Of course, I can’t assume that there haven’t been other influences on the quality of my skin recently (such as the weather, hormones, and so on) but since using this product I have definitely noticed a difference.
Are there any downsides?
If you wear a lot of eye makeup, you may find that it takes a while to remove every last bit, but if you persist it certainly will!
If that doesn’t sound ideal for you, I would suggest using this product on your face, and using different product on your eyes.
Should I buy it?
Yes, definitely! This is a really great product, and it’s now a part of my everyday skincare regime. As it only costs a few pounds to buy, it’s certainly worth giving it a try for yourself.
