Student Saving Tips

As a student, you probably don’t have a huge amount of cash to spare. But, of course, you’ll be desperate to spend every single penny that you do have. So, instead of splashing out on the first thing you find, try following these tips to make the most out of your money.

Choose your supermarket wisely. Of course, this does partly depend on where you live, and the closest supermarket to you, but if you do have an option to choose then go for the cheapest one! I would suggest Aldi or Lidl, but if you want a larger range of products then sign up for a Tesco Clubcard, as you can exchange points for money-off coupons, which will soon build up if you shop there regularly.

Sign up to UniDays – It’s free, and you can save a LOT of money. From 25% off at National Express to 30% off at Zizzi, there’s something for everyone. I would say that this is a better option than an NUS card, as you don’t have to spend a penny, but it does depend on where you shop. For example, with a NUS card you can get 40% off at Pizza Express, or special deals at McDonalds. So, take a look and decide whether it’s worth it.

6 Months Free Amazon Student Membership – If you want free next-day delivery and the option to watch some great TV and film for no extra cost, this is the way to do it. All you have to do is sign up here, and remember to cancel your membership before the 6 months is up or you’ll be charged!

One of the best things about being a fresher is receiving freebie after freebie. However, with Money Saving Expert’s great online tool you can now have freebies all year round.

Finally, instead of buying an item you love on the first website you find, search around and look for discount codes. It’ll only add an extra 5/10 minutes onto your shopping experience, so it’s definitely worth it.
